Safe at home, safe at work, safe on the street

Coming soon...

Jill Saward will have a new website up and running within the next two months.  In the meantime, the content from the Haltemprice and Howden by-election campaign will remain.

Thank You!

Thank you for your support in the Haltemprice and Howden by-election.

It's been a very tiring two weeks but I'm feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to speak out for the rights of victims of crime.

I may not have won the election, but this is not the end of the campaign!  My campaign for victims didn't start with the Haltemprice and Howden by-election and nor will it end here.

Today, the official results will show that David Davis's support is up 24.6 per cent.  Well, it may be if you count only percentages.  But if you count the real votes of real people David Davis has lost 5679 votes since the last general election - a drop of around 25 per cent.

His total number of votes tonight is less than the Liberal Democrats received in the last General Election.  This reflects what I found on the streets of the constituency during my campaign.  The majority of people wanted to support David Davis as he was considered to be a good MP; and the population want to be loyal to the Conservative party.  But they are angry - angry about the cost of this un-necessary by-election to the council tax payers of Haltemprice and Howden; and angry about the un-necessary cost of this election campaign to local Conservative Party members, activists and supporters.

David Davis has not only weakened his position in the House of Commons - moving from Shadow Home Secretary to the back benches; but he has also weakened his position as Member of Parliament for this beautiful constituency - loosing a quarter of his support.

But back to my campaign:  I have lost my deposit - something that was almost inevitable with such a large field of candidates (it was theoretically possible for the winner to lose their deposit in an election of 26 candidates).  But, I was the highest placed independent candidate.  I am very grateful for all the support I have received - both from individuals, from sections of the media, and from the 492 voters of Haltemprice and Howden who voted to put victims first.

I will continue to fight for True Liberty and campaign for the right of everybody to feel safe at home, safe at work and safe on the street.
